This week I’m lucky to be spending some time in Greece with my friend Jessica Sisto. Jess made the suggestion way back in January that I join her for a yoga retreat with her fave instructor, #martinyoga on a small island most Greeks haven’t even heard of - Amorgos.
This week is Athens and Santorini before we board the ferry to start our yoga adventure. While neither of us are officially on the clock, given that we do similar work, our conversation naturally slips in and out of work.
As we strolled around the Acropolis, we couldn’t help but geek out over Greek mythology. We talked about how these ancient stories and symbols relate to team dynamics—how power, leadership, and collaboration have been themes in human history for thousands of years. And then there’s the history of Greek civilization itself. It’s fascinating to think that the birthplace of democracy has such a deep connection to many of the political and organizational dynamics we experience in our workplaces today. It’s like every corner of this place whispers a lesson in leadership or team culture.
The point to all of this? We are not working, but our experiences and time together are lending to our continued growth and learning.
Plus, we’re having a lot of fun!
How do you recharge and renew? I’d love to hear from you—and if you have any favorite Santorini experiences, drop them in the comments! We’re headed there next, and I can’t wait to explore it.
