‘Tis the season

You don’t have to look hard to find articles, news features, and likely, your hippie-dippy college friend (GUILTY!) all talking about gratitude. There’s good reason for this – check in with the "wisdom" of the internet and you’ll find all kinds of reasons to practice gratitude: your own happiness, bringing yourself into the present, improving relationships etc etc.

What’s a bit trickier is when things sort of suck – work is tough, maybe you have a difficult health situation, and I don’t know… a global pandemic?!

However, that is exactly when it is most important. Gratitude for the small things, even in light of some really tough things, can bring you hope, reduce the mental anxiety associated with whatever is tough at the moment, and bring you energy when you feel depleted (Greater Good, Berkeley).

In realizing this, Sherry and I asked some of our friends (and one new one!) what they’re grateful for IN LIGHT of the pandemic. We heard some truly amazing and inspiring things. Please listen in to this week’s podcast to hear from Lori Martin McDaniel, Joseph Asaro, Brandon Blanchard, Carmen Palo, Robin Berning, and Rebecca Kilday as they describe what they're grateful for even with all the awful stuff the pandemic brought.

Sherry and I also practice a little in-the-moment, and unscripted gratitude with each other. Check it out here, https://lnkd.in/gGHUEgbD or wherever you listen to podcasts.

So, I’ll end with a question – what are YOU grateful for in light of the pandemic? For me, it’s time with friends and family and being outside. The picture in this post is from last night when my Mom arrived to enjoy Thanksgiving week in San Diego and we were treated to this amazing sunset.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American Peeps!
